Rebecca H. Best
Rebecca Best is an associate professor in and Chair of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where where she is also an associate faculty member of the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program. Her research focuses on women in conflict, negotiations between states and fragmented insurgencies, and the reintegration of veterans. She currently serves on the editorial board of International Interactions and as the 2022 President of the Midwest region of the International Studies Association. She is also a contributor at Political Violence at a Glance, an affiliated researcher with the Missouri Institute of Defense and Energy, a 2020/21 alumna of the International Policy Summer Institute, and a 2021-2023 fellow of UMKC's CAFE program. She is a native of North Carolina, where she earned her doctorate from the University of North Carolina in 2012.
