PhD Student

Shiva graduated in 2018 from Tabriz University of Medical Science in Iran earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. During her time at Tabriz University, she conducted a research study exploring the relationship between age, gender, and the number of remaining teeth with condyle morphology, utilizing clinical findings in CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) images.

Shiva’s education in Iran is grounded by NODET (National Organization of Development of Exceptional Talents), which provides a unique educational environment for exceptionally talented students. Inspired by the example of notable alumni, Shiva chose to pursue higher education abroad.

Currently, Shiva is pursuing her Ph.D. at UMKC, where she joined the Cox Lab in 2023. As part of her Ph.D. studies, Shiva has taken on a project to investigate the ontogeny of midfacial hypoplasia and craniofacial microsomia in mouse models using uCT imaging and morphometric approaches in an effort to provide insights into the origins of these common clinical presentations.
