In this recent work, titled "An optimized appetitive visual short-term memory paradigm in Drosophila," we unveiled several confounding factors that may impair appetitive visual short-term memory. By controlling of these factors, including sexually-dimorphic color and sucrose preferences, as well as innate color preferences, we present an optimized paradigm that greatly reduces the number of flies required to display learning.
