New PLOS Biology Paper: Non-brain-derived sleep-promoting VNC-SP neurons

VNC-SP

We are excited to announce that our recent manuscript has been published in PLOS Biology! In this work, titled "Regulation of sleep by cholinergic neurons located outside the central brain in Drosophila," we identify and describe non-brain-derived sleep-promoting neurons. These neurons, located in the ventral nerve cord (VNC), are strongly sleep-promoting and are present in the 23E10-GAL4 expression pattern, which calls into question sleep-related studies using 23E10-GAL4. We have named these neurons VNC-SP for ventral nerve cord - sleep promoting.
