In this EUReka course, we will explore how text-based technologies from the codex to hypertext discipline our understanding of the world, ourselves, and each other. Students will develop research skills that will enable them to examine media and social theory, and analyse primary and secondary texts, visual art, and other media to produce an original research project which they will present at the EUReka Symposium. Readings include theoretical texts from Michel Foucault, Walter Ong, Legacy Russell, and others along with literary texts and fine art from Rebecca Kuang, Archie Bongiovanni, Jenny Holzer, Homer translated by Emily Wilson, and Barbara Kruger.
