Economic research for the public good.

Mission
About Us
The CEI's mission is to use information technology in support of economic decision-makers in the public and private sectors, and academic researchers.
Established in 1994, the Center for Economic Information (CEI) engages in research with and for the public sector, making use of our strengths in geographic information systems, economic statistics and econometrics. Our major public sector projects in the past include GIS-based surveys of the housing conditions of more than 100,000 parcels in cities on both sides of the state line of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Ongoing research projects address housing conditions, pediatric asthma incidents, pediatric lead poisoning, firearms violence, and environmental justice issues. CEI offers unique economic analyses in service of the public good.
Leadership the Forefront of Our Research Areas
CEI staff offer decades of experience in interdisciplinary spatial data analysis; public health research, advocacy, and engagement; quantitative and qualitative economic analysis; and community economic development consulting.

Lab Protocol
CEI research staff have extensive experience working with protected health information and other sensitive data. Holding ourselves to the highest standards in data privacy is a reflection of our commitment to the communities we serve.
Policy
CEI offers economic policy analysis and public health research for the public good. We approach every project as community partners as well as subject matter experts.
Education
CEI staff regularly present their findings to academic audiences, policymakers, public health officials, and community partners. Effective communication to academic and non-academic audiences is essential to producing research that contributes to the public good. During our community engagement opportunities, CEI staff present our findings, collect feedback, and connect community members with public assistance resources. Our research isn't just for publication; it is used to empower communities and advocate for public policy solutions.
Funding
