Students, faculty and staff involved in the UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies’ Move More, Get More (MMGM) program are on a mission: To make underserved neighborhoods in Kansas City healthier through diet and exercise. Each week, MMGM provides free bags of healthy produce and exercise sessions to middle-school students and their families, along with recipe ideas and sports equipment. Since it started in Spring 2020, the program has reached more than 100 children in KC Public Schools. MMGM is a collaboration between UMKC, KC Public Schools, KC Parks and Recreation, Children’s Mercy Hospital and Truman Medical Center.
