About Us

We use the fast development of zebrafish to better understand sensory systems. The lateral line-used by the fish to sense water flow-has similar structure to cells in our cochlea and can help us understand how our own hearing works. Because zebrafish can robustly regenerate, they can teach us how to treat things like hearing loss.

The McGraw Lab

We study the development and regeneration of sensory cells

Research

Research in the McGraw Lab seeks to understand how sensory cells develop and regenerate in growing animals. We use the zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model because it is an excellent organism for the study of developmental biology.
