Perry Liang
Perry Liang is an undergraduate student in Electrical and Computer Engineeringat the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). He maintains a perfect Cumulative GPA of 4.0/4.0 and is a distinguished member of the UMKC Honors Program. He is expected to graduate in 2028.
Perry’s research interests are broad and interdisciplinary, spanning Spatio-Temporal Prediction, Machine Learning, Satellite Network Optimization, Communications, 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), and Verilog Hardware Design. Currently, he serves as an Undergraduate Researcher in the MIGHTY Lab under the supervision of Dr. Md Ashikuzzaman. His primary research focuses on Differentiated QoS-Oriented Situational Awareness for Mega-Constellations, specifically investigating computing offload planning through Federated Learningand Dual-DAM Coordination.
Beyond his academic research, Perry has served as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Data Science and Analytics Innovation Center (dSAIC) since January 2026, where he has cultivated extensive technical expertise. His technical toolkit includes proficiency in Python and C++, with current projects involving TensorFlow for machine learning and NetworkX for complex graph and data analysis.
Perry’s innovative approach to problem-solving is demonstrated by his project ChladniVision, an AI-powered pattern recognition system. His technical excellence was recognized with the 1st Prize at the UMKC Hack-a-roo AI+Data Sciencecompetition. In addition to his technical pursuits, he serves as a Student Ambassadorfor the UMKC School of Science and Engineering (SSE), representing the college to prospective students and providing insights into academic programs and campus resources.
Complementing his academic and technical achievements, Perry is an active leader in campus organizations. He serves as an Event Planner for the UMKC Student Space Club, a NASA-supported and funded initiative dedicated to rocket design and fostering engagement among K-12 students and teachers. He is also deeply involved in the community and has officially received an offer to serve as a Volunteer for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Kansas City.
