Ghislain Lungudi is a doctoral student in Civil engineering at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, specializing in water resources and environmental hydraulics. His research focuses on turbulent open flow, sediment transport and habitat suitability for freshwater mussels in river ecosystems. Using advanced techniques such as particle image velocimetry (PIV) and machine (statistical) learning, Ghislain aims to improve understanding of flow dynamics and their interaction with ecological habitats, particularly around endangered species.

With a broad academic base and professional experience in civil engineering, Ghislain's core competencies cover hydraulic engineering, including transient hydraulics, hydraulic structures, hydroelectric power and dams, as well as the design of urban water systems (water supply and drainage); and structural engineering, including the design of steel and reinforced concrete structures using finite element modeling.

Combining field studies, laboratory experiments and data-driven modeling, Ghislain is dedicated to developing sustainable solutions for river systems and solving problems linked to habitat degradation in freshwater environments.
