Dr. Prasad P. Calyam
Prasad Calyam is the Greg L. Gilliom Professor in Cyber Security in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is also the Director of the Center for Cyber Education, Research and Infrastructure Center (Mizzou CERI) in the MU College of Engineering. He is an expert in cloud computing, computer networking, cybersecurity, AR/VR, and network measurement. He has been the primary mentor of over 65 MS/PhD graduate students (including 20 Female, 3 Hispanic and 2 African American), over 68 undergraduate students (52 supported by NSF REU program; 11 Female, 2 Hispanic and 8 African American) and 6 Postdocs. Student co-authors have heavily contributed to his over 195 peer-reviewed publications in reputed conferences and journals. He currently advises 7 Ph.D. (1 Female, 1 African American, 2 Hispanic), 7 M.S. (including 2 Female) and 4 undergraduate students. His research sponsors include: NSF, NSA, DOS, ARL, DOE, VMware, Cisco, Dell, Verizon, IBM, Huawei, Internet2, and others. He has led prior training programs sponsored by NSF CyberTraining, NSF REU, VMware, and Small Business Administration, and has developed open curriculum that have been used by hundreds of learners. He has designed and taught popular courses in Cloud Computing, Cyber Defense, Cyber Defense, and Cyber and Software Automation in Neuroscience that involves incorporation of technology in courses for hands-on student learning. He was nominated by students for the 2015 Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award, and was honored with the 2022 Robin Walker Award for Graduate Student Mentoring. He also has received the MU Campus Award for Excellence in Teaching with Technology in 2017, Outstanding Senior Faculty Teaching Award in 2021, and Outstanding Senior Faculty Research Award in 2022.
