Soft Biomedical Interfaces Lab - Muzzio Lab

Welcome to the Soft Biomedical Interfaces Lab! Smart micro and nanomaterials can serve as tools for guiding cell behavior. The Soft Biomedical Interfaces Lab seeks to engineer soft and hybrid biomaterials with tailored physicochemical properties and investigate cell-material interactions. We aim to shed light on major cell/tissue biology issues and translate knowledge into novel neural engineering and regenerative medicine approaches and therapies for pressing biomedical problems.

New paper in Experiments in Fluids!

Micah Wyssmann and coauthors from the University of Tennessee have published a paper in Experiments in Fluids. This paper provides new insights into the effects that the submergence level for boulders in mountainous streams has on flow field characteristics. This study has important implications to...

Microbial Environment

Bio-Fenton microbial fuel cells for energy harvesting and dye degradation A significant acceleration of H2O2 production and MB reduction was observed with three-dimensional (3D) air-cathode manufactured carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene sheets (GNS) hybrid air-cathode in microbial fuel cell (MFC)...

Microbial Energy

Microbial electrochemical synthesis from CO2 Three-dimensional (3D) structured carbon nano-materials have excellent potential to be used in microbial electrochemical synthesis (MES) for CO2 reduction. NAD/NADH pool in biofilm bacteriuria is changed with GN–CNTs hybrid modified cathode, which...

Biological Nanotechnology

Enhancement of Electricity Production of Microbial Fuel Cells by Using DNA Nanostructures as Electron Mediator Carriers Engineering DNA nanostructures serves as electron mediator carriers to enhance the electricity conversion from E. coli-based microbial fuel cells. Read the article here DNA...
