October was busy for us! We presented a total of four abstracts accepted for presentation at two national meetings in October:

• Dr Sutkin presented, "Speech Communication Interference" at the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress, held in San Francisco, Oct 18-23, 2024
• Dr. Jada Ohene-Agyei presented her research, "Prophylactic Vancomycin Leads to Fewer Device Removals in Sacral Neuromodulation"at the American Urogynecologic Society Pelvic Floor Disorders Week, Oct 23-26, 2024 in Washington, DC.
• Dr Sutkin presented Miscommunication in Robotic Sacrocolpopexy: Causes and Mitigation Strategies and "Verification of Motion Capture Software for Simulated Retropubic Trocar Passage" at the American Urogynecologic Society Pelvic Floor Disorders Week, Oct 23-26, 2024 in Washington, DC.

We went to Basel!! Basel is lovely this time of year! We had a great response to our presentations at AMEE, Aug 24-28, 2024. See our "Funtime" page for some photos.

• Dr Huang presented her short communication:

We have started out 2024 with a bang, having already presented either orally or by poster at the following:

Dr Sutkin presented twice at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society 2024 Annual Meeting.

• An Oral presentation at the Robotics Summit on March 24th Summit titled, "Human factors Approach to Improving Communication between Console Surgeon and Bedside Assistant" 

• A poster presentation at the main meeting titled, "Understanding Causes of Miscommunication in the Operating Room" 

5 medical students from our lab presented their research at the 2024 University of Missouri Health Sciences Student Research Summit on March 20th, 2024 held at Children's Mercy Research Institute, Kansas City.

• Jada Ohene-Agyei presented Effect of Perioperative Antibiotic Selection in Sacral Neurostimulator Removal: A Case Control Study
• Sandeep Yanamala presented Semantic Analysis of Ambiguous Verbal Instruction in Robotic Surgery
• Alex Teano and Mohamed Refaat co-presented Speech Communication Interference in the Operating room
• Kiersten (Kay to us) Herzog presented The Impact of Preoperative AbA1c on reoperation rates in Women Undergoing Surgery for Stress Urinary Incontinence and Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Dr. Casey Rose presented his poster at the Association for Surgical Education 2024 Surgical Education week in Orlando, FL April 22-27, 2024:
